Trusting the Divine Feminine: My Journey with a Life Coach

Trusting the Divine Feminine: My Journey with a Life Coach

Following last week's episode featuring Amy Young, my life coach, I wanted to share my personal experience working with a coach. There are quite a few misconceptions about coaching, and I certainly held some of them myself.

The first crucial distinction, while it might seem obvious, is that not all coaches are created equal. I know there are some less effective coaches out there, and I feel incredibly fortunate that Amy was my first. Most importantly, if you're considering working with a life coach, do your due diligence. Ensure the coach you hire is a good fit for what you want to explore. Anyone can offer advice, so make sure the guidance you receive aligns with your values and doesn't prey on your vulnerabilities.

I first encountered Amy in 2019, when she was a guest on another podcast. At that time, I instinctively knew significant changes were needed in my life. Professionally, I felt frustrated. I loved my work but didn't feel valued or like I truly belonged. I often received advice to be less emotional or invested, even as senior executives tracked my precise arrival and departure times, despite my 11-year perfect record of never missing a deadline. This made no sense to me on any level.

My personal life was also at a crossroads. I knew that without significant shifts, I would remain unfulfilled. As I listened to the podcast, Amy began discussing her work as a dating coach for women. She made a statement that instantly resonated, sending shivers down my spine. I knew in that moment she would change my life. I immediately visited her website and signed up for her coaching program, eager to absorb her teachings. This allowed me to recognize patterns in my life and begin making different decisions.

In 2020, as the world shut down, Amy launched a new offering. It transcended dating and relationships, focusing on something much grander: reclaiming divine feminine power and dismantling the patriarchal structures impacting both my professional and personal life. I had no idea what I was getting into, but it was 2020, and we were already on a wild ride, so I thought, "Why not?" The work we did that year was transformative, to say the least. I learned how to embrace play, reclaim my creativity, engage with my body and inner knowing, and take steps toward a life that served me better and allowed me to serve others more effectively. There was truly no going back.

Later in 2020, during a group session, Amy paired us up for an exercise. When it was my turn to express myself, I voiced desires I didn't even consciously know I had: leaving my job, moving back to my home state, and potentially changing industries! It was a lot to process, yet I knew these were true and I needed to start moving towards them. I initially thought I needed to have everything figured out before taking the first step. The truth, however, was that clarity wouldn't come until I was willing to make that initial leap based purely on desire and faith. Gradually, step by small step, things began to unfold. In 2021, the right next job opportunity emerged, allowing me to leave my previous role with all bridges intact (something that was very important to me). It wasn't my forever job, but it was the next essential stepping stone.

By 2022, I had purchased a house in my hometown and was able to split my time between two cities. The next right career step presented itself, granting me the flexibility to explore all the necessary avenues while moving in the direction of these significant changes.

In 2023, I ventured out on my own, becoming a full-time business owner and living full-time in my hometown. I met Joanna, and together we launched WomenShare. I learned to say "NO" to many great opportunities, always following my deepest desires. Throughout this entire journey, Amy always had my back. When I stumbled, she would gently remind me of my inherent gifts and the power to make a different choice. She encouraged me to work with other coaches for diverse perspectives. Through it all, I felt incredibly held and supported—by Amy, by the universe, by my family and friends, and by myself.

I don't know what the future holds, as much of it is beyond our control anyway. Amy teaches about the power of surrender, cyclical living, and acceptance. This resonates deeply with how I view my career, relationships, and even WomenShare. I hope you had the chance to listen to last week's episode and found something in it that resonated with you. For all the uncertainties (and there are many), I know this for sure: we all deserve to live the most authentic version of ourselves. We can truly trust our inner guidance.
